I make reportage drawings of people engaged in activity, often large-scale (up to 1.5m). The drawings serve to record an event over time - minutes, hours, or sometimes days.

Making a Mark at the Harris Museum
Before Sound Josh Horsley 24 meter print produced in collaboration with Magda Stawarska-Beavan
The long print, spanning from ground floor to ceiling up through the centre of the Harris Museum, gave me the incentive to spend all day drawing the wonderful space and the unfolding Aziz Ibrahim concert on the first floor.

Cheralai poppadum maker
Every day of the year Usha spending hours making poppadums upon the Cheralai pavement near Palace Road. Drawing the whole process of kneading the dough, rolling it into a long sausage, cutting into small pieces, pressing flat, rolling with metal pin, weighting the stack, spreading out on a sack to dry in the sun. . . . .is fascinating. She does everything with supreme deftness and at speed, with a rhythm and a generous smile.
